Corps members to earn N30,000, says Nigeria’s Finance minister

Nigeria’s Minister of Finance, Zainab Ahmed, has assured the National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) that they will also earn the minimium wage of N30,000.

 

Serving Corps members currently receive N18, 000 being amount paid  as minimum wage to federal government workers every month.

 

Ahmed gave the assurance on Thursday  during a media briefing on the activities of her ministry in Abuja.

 

 

She said the financial implications of the new minimum wage had been worked out by the Presidential Committee set up by President Muhammadu  Buhari, adding that the report had been submitted to the president.

 

Ahnmed added: “We have looked at the report and what we are working on now is how we can finance it.”

 

“Apart from the increase of the minimum wage from N18, 000 to N30, 000, there is also a consequential adjustment that we have to negotiate with the labour unions,” she explained.
